Brick Lane Sunday

One of the greatest joys in living in London is checking on new shopping destinations. And no place is better than Spitafields. Two amazing markets are open on Sundays (Spitafields which is open all week and Brick Lane Sunday Market) in addition to the incredible standing shops populating the area. Here is just a brief overview of my visit this past Sunday.

Fen Noodles

I started my day the only proper way, with a big bowl full of handpulled noodles. The noodles were fabulous, but I must say the real star here was the fall apart in your mouth lamb. I was actually tempted to try the vegan options, as I try to eat vegetarian when possible. My apologies to the planet, but I’m so glad I didn’t! Lamb is one of my favorite meats and this might be the best lamb I’ve ever eaten! It was flavorful tender and the portion was surprisingly generous. Plus, despite the stand’s popularity, the line moved at a quick pace. Definitely try it out if you’re in Old Spitalfields Market!

London Sox

I definitely felt some hometown pride when I saw these sox. For those of you outside 410, let me explain: these socks are a perfect homage to the Maryland flag (which, as any Marylander will tell you, is the best, most stylish state flag. Sorry California, bears are just a bit passe!). London Sox is a new company, but the socks were super soft and cute! Perfect for a holiday gift (you know how socks were the worst gift when you were a kid? Yeah, now they’re like the motherload of holiday gifts! I always need more socks.).

Brick Lane Vintage Market

We exited Spitafields and headed for our main destination, Brick Lane Vintage Market. Although the outside market is only open on Sundays (although knowing London, there are probably vendors there everyday), the Vintage Market is open 7 days a week. Be warned, this is not the place for bargain minded thrift shop hunters. I saw prices ranging up to to almost £500! But the quality is unmatched. If you’re looking for vintage designer items, this certainly will fit the bill.
Are they trying to make me homesick?!? It's funny, I've found you find a ton of American items while second hand shopping in the UK. I have no idea what causes that phenomenon and am open to any theories. BTW, the jacket was great quality and I was tempted to buy it for some hometown pride, but it was £65, which puts it a bit out of my nostalgia budget.

Painted jean jackets are all the rage right now. If you (like me) don't have the talent to DIY, why not buy one premade, like the gorgeous upcycled Frida Kahlo jean jacket?

Love this outfit styling by PINK -NK, a stall that focuses on unique, sustainable, vintage fashion. Men can often feel left out of second hand fashion, but this stall had a terrific menswear collection!

Backyard Market

We then headed to (yet) another market! (Seriously how many markets can one area have??)

LengBox Face Mask Bouquet

While I was there, I picked up this fabulous face mask bouquet from LengBox, a Korean Skincare Company. It’s going to be a thank you gift for my uncle and his boyfriend (shhh! Don’t tell).
